Hey There, Franchise Friends & Family!

We are very excited about our upcoming Annual Franchise UnConference (UnC) in Park City, Utah from March 8-10, 2017  (or March 7-11 if you arrive early and stay late). We will be implementing some improvements this year to make UnC 2017 even more valuable and fun!

About:
The Franchise UnC is the brainchild of Brad Fishman (Fishman Public Relations), Dawn Kane (Hot Dish Advertising) and Lane Fisher (FisherZucker, LLC). Together we’ve created a forum where franchisors can network with other franchisor presidents, CEOs, founders and chairmen to discuss the issues which affect us all. This is a unique opportunity to exchange ideas in real time, in a relaxed, collaborative environment.

Who Should Attend:
Founders and high-ranking franchise executives from emerging and mature brands, multi-unit franchisees and supplier sponsors. UnAttendees often bring their spouses along to the event.

The Event:
We sought the input of our UnConference veterans on the schedule, venue, educational content and format of the event. The UnC provides an unparalleled forum to network, teach and learn with high-ranking franchise executives on common issues.

Lodging:
We will return to the Newpark Resort in Park City for 2017. The Newpark has 60 luxury suites, as well as deluxe rooms and 2-bedroom townhouses available. The luxury suites, with full kitchen and hot tubs on the deck, will be the first to go. We recommend that you reserve your room as soon as possible directly with the Newpark, and that you pay careful attention to the check-in and check-out dates. Many UnAttendees choose to arrive a day early on Tuesday for an extra day of skiing, and those of you that attend our closing dinner will most likely depart on Saturday, March 11. To make your hotel reservation go to www.newparkresort.com and use the online booking code UNCON2017, or call the hotel directly at 435-649-3600 — ask for Emily Madore  and refer to the 2016 UnConference block. The room block discount ends on March 1, 2017, or when your desired room category sells out. If you cancel on or after February 9, the hotel will charge you a cancellation fee equal to one night’s stay.

The Itinerary:
The event officially starts with a cocktail reception in the Skybridge Lounge at the Newpark Resort from 5 – 7 PM on Wednesday, March 9. You can pick up your registration materials and welcome bags beginning at 3 PM on Wednesday. Following the reception, we’ll depart for Jupiter Bowl, just a short walk from the Newpark in the same complex.

On Thursday and Friday mornings, we meet for breakfast (typically without spouses) at 7:30 AM, and then engage in a facilitated discussion on the most pressing issues affecting senior franchise executives. At 10 AM on Thursday and Friday, we will adjourn our meeting and report to any designated pickup location for any optional paid activities, or head over to Park City (formerly The Canyons) for a day of skiing or snowboarding with other UnAttendees. Remember, all reservations must be booked directly with the service providers. Don’t ski or snowboard? Not a problem! We’ll have other activities to keep you non-skiers entertained. On Thursday, we’ll host a happy hour at Skybridge Lounge at the Newpark from 4:45-6:15 PM. At 6:30 PM, we’ll head over to Ghidotti’s (also in the the Newpark complex) for cocktails, followed by dinner. Friday will follow Thursday’s daytime format, and we’ll adjourn to Molly Blooms Gastropub (another nearby restaurant in the complex) for our closing dinner.

Early Arrival Dinner:
For folks who arrive early enough for dinner on Tuesday, we host a pre-welcome dinner at 7:30 PM at Maxwell’s, attached to the Newpark Resort, and invite all those who arrive early enough in the day to ski on Wednesday to join us for a day at Deer Valley before the event officially begins. Every single event at the UnConference is “ski casual”! You can wear your gear or jeans to our facilitated networking sessions, Après Ski events and dinners.
